چکیده
ObjectiveTo develop diagnostic criteria for chronic endometritis and compare the prevalence of between women with recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) controls.DesignCohort study.SettingSingle academic fertility center.PatientsWomen unexplained RPL (two or more losses) prospectively recruited controls without a history infertility.InterventionsEndometrial samples were stained hematoxylin eosin CD138. A pathologist blinded to patient recorded number plasma cells per 10 high-power fields (HPFs). In addition, presence absence endometrial stromal changes was documented.Main Outcome MeasurePrevalence endometritis.ResultsEndometrial from 50 26 evaluated. When defined as one HPFs, 31% 56% met criterion. both required diagnosis endometritis, no 30% criteria.ConclusionsAlthough rare found in biopsy controls, limited cohort. We propose that be HPFs setting changes. With use these strict criteria, have significantly higher rate supporting an association RPL. To controls. Cohort study. Single center. Women infertility. Chronic endometritis modifies decidualization in human endometrial stromal cells
BACKGROUND Chronic endometritis (CE) is a continuous inflammation of uterine endometrium, and it is usually symptomless. As CE has been thought not to affect the reproductive status and general health of affected women, its significance has not been explored. However, recent studies have shown that CE is related with repeated implantation failures after in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer, u...
متن کاملInter-observer and intra-observer variability in immunohistochemical detection of endometrial stromal plasmacytes in chronic endometritis
Chronic endometritis (CE) is an unusual endometrial inflammation characterized by stromal plasmacyte infiltration. CE is easily missed due to its subtle symptoms and demanding histopathological examinations. Although the immunohistochemistry for the plasmacyte marker CD138 has facilitated the detection of endometrial stromal plasmacytes, the accuracy and biases of this method for CE diagnosis r...
متن کاملEndometrial Stromal Nodule
The endometrial stromal nodule is a benign tumor composed of differentiated endometrial stromal cells arranged as a well circumscribed nodule with smooth non-invasive margins. They are rare neoplasms, diagnosed in most instances by microscopy. Although nodules are benign in nature, hysterectomy is the treatment of choice to enable evaluation of the tumor margins which are well demarcated in...
متن کاملRedefining Endometrial Receptivity
However, the notion of receptivity as a static state in which the tissue is poised, frozen in time, awaiting the arrival of an adequately developed embryo, is naïve. An integrative definition of receptivity must embrace communication between maternal and embryonic tissues. At receptivity, the endometrium has reached a point at which negotiation can begin that may or may not lead to successful i...
متن کاملChronic Endometritis
Chronic endometritis is a persistent inflammation of the inner lining of the uterine cavity. Several studies have demonstrated that it is a condition frequently associated with repeat‐ ed unexplained implantation failure at in vitro fertilization, recurrent miscarriage, as well as poor obstetric outcomes such as preterm labor. The aim of this paper is to provide information about diagnosis and ...
